What do air purifiers, air cleaners, air ionizers and humidifiers all have in common? Two things, actually. The first is that all three can work together to improve your indoor air quality, reducing symptoms related to allergies, asthma and respiratory illness. The second is that they are all add-ons to your furnace, or your heating and cooling system. The humidifier is added on to the duct work, the air purifier, or air cleaner, is in place of your air filter (we like to say it's an air filter on steroids) and the air ionizer is wired into the power of your furnace. If you get a new furnace, all three can stay and be installed with the new heating system.
